Welcome to Heart of Midlothian Amateur Swimming Club, one of Edinburgh’s oldest and most successful swimming clubs.
Founded in 1885, Hearts has been providing swimming opportunities for generations — from those just learning to swim, to competitive athletes representing the club at district, national, and international level.
Our vision is simple: to deliver a range of swimming opportunities for everyone, in a friendly, supportive, and ambitious team environment. We aim to build strong team spirit, support every swimmer to reach their potential, and maintain a sustainable, community-driven club that promotes a lifelong love of swimming.
At Hearts, there’s a place for every swimmer.
Our structured squad pathway allows children to progress from development groups through to competitive and performance squads, guided by our experienced coaching team. Along the way, swimmers learn discipline, resilience, and teamwork — skills that go far beyond the pool.
For younger swimmers or complete beginners, our Swim School provides fun, structured lessons in small groups led by qualified teachers. These sessions focus on water confidence, safety, and good technique — helping children build strong foundations and enjoy their time in the water.
We also run our SwiFT and Masters squads, offering opportunities for those who wish to swim for fitness, take part in social sessions, or continue competing at their own pace.
