CHANGES to TRAINING TIMES/VENUES

Unfortunately we have just been informed that Forrester's pool has had to be closed today (Monday 26th July) due to work being done within the building.

This will mean that the 1800-2000 session this evening for Groups A and B will have to be cancelled:

A replacement session for Swim Edinburgh swimmers only will take place at Drumbrae 1800-2000 (Tonight - Monday 26th)

Apologies for the cancellation and for the short notice - this is outwith our control.

They have informed us that there will not be a problem with our session on Wednesday 28th.

Please can we ask that you let as many people as possible know about these cancellations so that everyone gets the message?

To replace this session, we will open up the session at Drumbrae on Tuesday 27th (1730-1930) to Group A and B swimmers as well as Swim Edinburgh swimmers.

Firstly, a reminder that the Summer Schedule commenced on Thursday 1st July. This will follow the schedule outlined in the link above (e.g. no sessions at the Royal High; combined sessions etc).

  • The Sunday sessions at Drumbrae involve land training for all groups. Many swimmers from the lower groups will not have taken part in land training before so the following comments will help to let you all know what to expect and how to arrive prepared:
    • Session content will depend on certain factors such as availability of space; weather conditions and the coach leading the session and will include mobility / dynamic warmups; team games; basic circuits; specific land based skills; general fitness etc.
    • Participants should wear proper footwear (e.g. running shoes or cross training shoes) and appropriate clothing (e.g. t-shirt and shorts / tracksuit bottoms) and should bring along a drinks bottle to remain hydrated.

Please note the following regarding the Swim Edinburgh (formerly ESCo) training schedule.

CHANGES TO THE SCHEDULE (Swim Edinburgh)

It is very important that we expand our land programme with a view to improving flexibility and injury prevention and aiding recovery and regeneration. We will therefore add in a few 15 minute slots either side of the evening sessions that will include vital aspects of preparation. These will replace the usual large amounts of time spent doing nothing in the changing rooms/showers at the start/end of sessions.

Tuesday 1715-1730 - Thera-band exercises (shoulder stability / injury prevention)
Tuesday 1930-1945 - full body stretch (recovery / developmental flexibility)
Wednesday/Thursday pre 1700 - arrive on poolside as early as possible for full dynamic warmup / personally prescribed exercises
Thursday 1900-1915 - Thera-band exercises (shoulder stability / injury prevention)
Friday 2000-2015 - full body stretch (recovery / developmental flexibility)

Wednesday/Friday land sessions remain as normal
.
