Social Committee

Hello and welcome to the Social section!

The main aim of the Committee is to arrange social events for the swimmers and their families and also do a bit of fund raising in the process.

Dates for your diaries:

Saturday 10th May - Sponsored Walk.  Come and join us on our annual
sponsored walk and help raise funds for the club.  We will be meeting at
Dalmeny Station at 10am and walking to Cramond Brig.  If you are leaving
your car at Dalmeny a regular bus service can run you back!

Tombola/Raffle - we desperately need donations for raffles/tombola for the quiz night and for the Novice gala in May. If you are able to donate anything, could you please contact Julia Marshall or give it to your coach to pass on. Thanks very much.

CRY FOR HELP! - Volunteers are needed to help organise and run a coconut shy stall at the bi-annual Corstorphine Fair on Saturday 7th June.
This event not only raises funds but also raises the profile of the club and
attracts new members.
Please contact Julia!

A big thank you to everyone who came along and supported our Music Quiz Night on Saturday 15th March. And Congratulations to 'Pringles Originals'

Another very successful evening which raised £455 for club funds.  Thanks to everyone who came along and supported us. The summer BBQ.

A small but select group of around 25 people attended this year’s annual BBQ/picnic at Dalkeith Country Park. We had rain, we had sunshine but most of all we had fun! Phil put on an entertaining one man show as he tried to retrieve a Vortex, then a rugby ball, then a football, followed by several tennis balls which he managed to get stuck up the same tree! Unfortunately they’re all still there - an expensive day for Coach Potter! With only a baseball bat and one tennis ball remaining, the day culminated in a closely fought game of rounders which was eventually won by Team Cheryl.

Aww, look at the nice horses. Typical weather for the picnic
Havin' fun Phil looking for all the things he put up the tree.

The sponsored walk.

It was a lovely sunny morning on Saturday 6th May and 45 Hearts
swimmers, friends and family completed the 6 mile walk along the Water
of Leith from Balerno to Slateford. We all had a great time, chatting to
friends, enjoying the lovely scenery, getting knocked over by Fiona and
Zoe Gray's lovely dog(!) and not too many blisters or sore feet! Thanks
to everyone who took part, we have raised a lot of money for the club -
We'll let you know the full amount as soon as possible but it will be in
the hundreds. We'll also let you know who wins the prize for the most
sponsor money raised. All sponsor monies to Irene or Dave Brownlee, 6
Craigleith Hill Ave, Edin EH4 2JA or
via Lucy group 3A & Rosa 2012.

Ghost Tour - Saturday 25th February

Fifteen brave souls attended the Ghost Tour on Saturday evening and had a suitably scary time. Everyone enjoyed it although a couple of fearties (who will remain nameless) couldnt face the trip to the haunted vaults at the end.
